In My Shed 04:47
Why is it wrong to be inside? I’ve got everything to fill me here With me it’s all in here, with me I like it when it rains and I’m inside The fox knows how to avoid the human Taking things as they come Oh that’s the way I am Oh that’s the way I am In my shed, unscathed Not beaten by the rocks, not bitten by the sharks Why is it wrong to want to be inside? Why is it wrong to want to be? I’ve got everything to fill me here with me, it’s all in here with me That’s the way I am Oh that’s the way I am Oh that’s the way I am I’ve got everything to fill me here with me, it’s all in here with me Why is it wrong to want to be inside? Why is it wrong to want to be? In my shed, unscathed Not beaten by the rocks, not bitten by the sharks Oh that’s the way I am Oh that’s the way I am Oh that’s the way I am I’ve got everything to fill me here with me, it’s all in here with me

Beauty Sleep 03:48
She may need some beauty sleep She demands and then she weeps Why would she consent to rest, when she could pursue her quest She smokes She takes All night all day She takes She may need some beauty sleep She just moans and then she weeps Make up your mind Make up your rules Define the game before you play All night all day, all night all day, all night all day She smokes, she takes

Recover 04:05
Even if you die, that would make no difference now Will I ever recover? Will I ever remember? Will I ever get over? Will I ever remember? Will I ever recover? Will I ever get over? It’s the sun on the dew that makes us evaporate It’s the time that stretches our pain It’s the tide that reveals my chain Will I ever ? Will I ever ? Will I ever get over ? Oh It’s the sun on the dew that makes us evaporate It’s the time that stretches our pain It’s the tide that reveals my chain Will I ever? Will I ever? Will I ever get over? Will I ever? Will I ever? Will I ever get over? Will I ever? Will I ever? Will I ever remember?

Paper Boy 03:39
Paper Boy found in a paper bag Here comes the cry But no one could see But no one could hear in our big city But no one could see But no one could hear with our plastic brains, our plastic cars, our plastic taste in our plastic face, in our plastic face Here comes the cry But no one could see how this baby tree could stand and speak But no one could see how this baby tree emerged from the scene, slightly soiled, unbalanced, slightly battered But no one could see But no one could hear But no one No one No one Our plastic brains, our plastic cars, our plastic taste in our plastic face Paper boy, paper bag, paper

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Bats, fox and birds form the animalist backdrop for her fifth studio album created in virtual rural isolation, in the West Sussex countryside under the 'shed'. 'Beauty Sleep' sees Olivia Louvel returning to a song format after her abstract composition 'ō, music for haiku'.

Themes: animalism.
1. satisfaction of, or preoccupation with, physical matters; sensuality
2. (Philosophy) the doctrine or belief that man lacks a spiritual nature
3. a trait or mode of behaviour typical of animals

Foreign elements:
#04 'In My Shed' is a remake of the Recoil 's track 'Stone' from the album 'Hydrology', Alan Wilder's second Recoil release. (1988/ Mute Records).
#11 'Live with me' is composed using a sonnet by William Shakespeare.

Visuals:
To support the sound world and to present different facets, Olivia Louvel has produced a series of experimental films, 'The Beauty Sleeps'. These will be published online via www.olivialouvel.com beginning of September 2014 over an extended period.
You can view the #1 film here olivialouvel.com/index.php/p-5/experiments/

"The award-winning French-born Brit crafts a fresh set of art inspired electronics. Or is it electronics inspired art? Olivia Louvel works on the frontier of art and electronic music, often blurring the boundary between the two…" (…) Much of ‘Beauty Sleep’ has a brittle fragility to it. ‘I Capture’ and ‘Bats’ exude a quiet grace and serenity, the former sounding like a piece Matthew Bourne might use in a modern ballet. The latter meanwhile takes the kind of strings that Will Gregory crafted for Goldfrapp’s ‘Felt Mountain’, only here the textures are suffused with dubby dynamics and skewed rhythms.‘But You Know’ provides tropicalia mystique, while ‘Polytypes Of Love’ finds dark eroticism in robotic synth gestures.
Mat Smith for Electronic Sound (UK)

"The closing track—Louvel’s musical setting of Shakespeare/Marlowe’s love sonnet “Live With Me”—is four and a half minutes of achingly tender perfection. "
Graham Duff for Dangerous Minds

"What Olivia Louvel unveils instead is one of the most fascinating song-bound albums we've heard in a while, one that really tells a s-t-o-r-y of cloudy forests, long lost secrets and scary spells, of hermaphroditic beings, supernatural powers and more supernatural mystery. Recommended."
baze.djunkiii for psychedelickitchen (Germany)

"This is rather special... If you like the kind of darkness of the early Goldfrapp... Sensational sound!"
Melita Dennett, BBC Sussex (UK)

Kristoffer Cornils for hhv-mag.com (Germany)

"kreativ und cool, wie es viele bloß gehypte, aber nicht begabte Popdiven gerne wären. Wer etwas mit FKA Twigs, Björk oder Tonia Reeh anfängt, ist hier gut aufgehoben."
Curt Cuisine for Skug (Austria)
